Most of my landscape paintings are made en plein air (outdoors, on location) using an ink pen and watercolours. I mostly paint scenes in Norwich and Cromer but occassionally I go further afield. For instance, I recently got commissions to paint the beach in Aldeburgh and the harbour of Kilvara in Ireland.

My watercolour painting of Aldeburgh Beach. It shows the beach, with seven seagulls and a couple of small, traditional boats in the foreground and the town of Aldeburgh in the background.

Some of my work is sold via The Gallery Norfolk in Cromer, and I'm often in North Norfolk to paint local scenes. I recently made a series of Cromer paintings full of references to different decades. Here is Cromer 1974.

My watercolour painting of Cromer with a 1970s theme. It shows Cromer beach, with the peir and town in the background. On the beach are lots of people from 1970, and a large group of people if forming a peace symbol.

I also take part in Paint Out events. I won the third prize in the competition in 2015 and came first in 2017 with a painting of the approach to Norwich Station, painted from the Carrow Road / Clarence Road junction.

A photo of the Norwich Station approach painting with the scene I painted in the background. The watercolour painting is still taped to the wooden board (it hasn't been cut out yet) and leans against a rusty metal fench. Below, in the background, are the railway tracks and city scape I painted.

And here is a painting of the iconic Sir Garnet pub, also from 2017.

My watercolour painting of the Sir Garnet Pub. The perspective is slightly skewed, so that it feels as if the pub is expanding and leaning towards you. In the background are the Church of St Peter Mancroft and a traditional red phone box.
